Newsletter September 2021

Dear Customer,

Welcome to our September 2021 Newsletter.

With Spring upon us we start getting ready for our busy working months ahead. Generally, the body starts getting prepared for those early morning 4 am wake ups and late sleeps in putting many hours on the water. In the coming months life in the Hauraki Gulf will undergo a huge transformation. The activity of fish and birds will take many changes each trying to reproduce and keep its species alive. It is in these coming months that we will see large whales visiting the Hauraki gulf with their magnificent splendor and gigantic appetites that ironically feed on the smallest of creatures like plankton and schools of bait fish. It is by far the best months out there when nature is at its best and seen in all its glory.
No one would disagree that Spring and onwards will be the best months to get out there and enjoy what nature has given us.

Introducing the boat “LegASea II”

Most of my regular customers have been out on this boat and some of the others are yet to experience a day out with their busy schedules. A formal introduction in view of the disruptive year we have had.

“LegASea II” is a Barnett offshore aluminium boat designed by the famous Naval Architect Tim Barnett. With a length of 12 meters and stern beam of 4.2 meters it makes for a perfect fishing platform. The boat is equipped with a Scania D12 - 575hp engine. Weighing close to 9 tonnes she can cruise at a good speed of 18 kts and has a top speed of 23.5 knots.
She also has all the latest electronics and the safety gear as per Maritime New Zealand standards and in MNZ Moss Survey. The boat is surveyed for 22 but I prefer having a max of about 12 anglers on the boat on any trip.
To add a bit of comfort she also has half the deck covered to keep you dry in the elements. Full clear screens on either side for added comfort and A BBQ on request to enjoy the day and have a great time out there on the water.
So as you can see there’s so many features that this boat is designed for to make a very good charter boat.

Covid 19 – Update:

It has been a year and a half of on and off disruptions and I hope you all kept safe during the hard times. Hope the damage caused was not too hard on you as it did to most other countries in the world. We have had 3 major lockdowns here and though a bit of disruption to all of us, we can still boast that we stayed 168 days without a single case. Yes, we are dealing with something we cannot see so chances of it sneaking into the community is always there. As a charter operator we depend a bit on tourism and a lot with regular customers coming back to keep us going. Furthermore we can only operate in level 2 and lower. Your support had no bounds and your loyalty is more that appreciated. Thank you all.

Now that we know more and more about the virus and with the vaccination roll out, we can only get better from here and there is surely light at the end of the tunnel. Stay safe in the meantime.

Bookings for the busy Months:

Before we know it, we will be in the silly season again and everyone will be looking to do fun things. A gentle reminder to you is not to leave it till the last minute. I know there are several groups that have booked the end of year outings with me. So, if there is a particular date that you have in mind, please flick me an email and I’ll hold this for you till you decide. It puts me in a tight situation when I have no dates available for my regular groups if left to the last minute. I do treasure your business but please let me know early. Especially for November, December and January.

Here's the lik to make a booking: https://www.megabitesfishing.co.nz/enquiry-form.html or you can call me on 0210669195 or free phone 0800 634 224

Father’s Day:

Father’s Day is 5th September 2021 and with the lockdown situation we are in there’s hardly anywhere to go  or do. Check out our gift vouchers page and I’m sure that would make a perfect gift for that loved one. What’s even better is that you can present them with the voucher that we email to you and they can book a date a later date when they are ready to go. Please check out the link below:

A bit of humour for you:

HOSPITAL BILL

A man suffered a serious heart attack while shopping in a store. The store clerk called 911 when they saw him collapse to the floor. The paramedics rushed the man to the nearest hospital where he had emergency open heart bypass surgery. He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at the Catholic Hospital.

A nun was seated next to his bed holding a clipboard loaded with several forms, and a pen. She asked him how he was going to pay for his treatment.
"Do you have health insurance?"
He replied in a raspy voice, "No health insurance."
The nun asked, "Do you have money in the bank?"
He replied, "No money in the bank."
"Do you have a relative who could help you with the payments?"asked the irritated nun.
He said, "I only have a *spinster* sister, and she is a nun."
The nun became agitated and announced loudly, " *Nuns are not spinsters*!
*Nuns are married to God*..."
The patient replied, "Perfect...Send the bill to my *brother-in-law*."

I hope to see most of you again on a fishing trip. Till then take care and stay safe!
